is actorfest legit? Do people really get signed if they go to one the auditions held there? or is it a waste?

You know, I did it once and I thought it was a big marketing trap. It can work out well for some actors, so if you’ve never done it and you don’t have much experience, then I’d say have a crack at it. And do it as an exercise in auditioning in a high-stakes environment.

But don’t go looking to be discovered. That’s the dream all of these places are selling you on and it’s a bit of a lie!

If you do go, make sure you are beyond prepared. Your headshot should be excellent. Your monologues should be tight. You should physically represent yourself at your absolute best. And you should be ready to answer questions such as “what type do you see yourself as” “what kind of roles do you go out for?” “What casting directors do you know?” “What producers have you worked with” and so on.

That way you will have done everything you can to make it the best experience possible.
